Specific Database Forensics DBF6300 updated functions are as follows:
1.Support recovery of MySQL, SQLServer, and Oracle databases with structural damage using sample data.
Value: When the database structure is damaged, conventional methods often cannot extract and recover data. DBF uses the original database files or database backup files as samples to help extract and recover data from structurally damaged databases. It is applicable for parsing and recovering databases encrypted by ransomware or for restoring incomplete database files that are being recovered.
2. Supports SQL file parsing for PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
Value: We have been focusing on common database types, versions, and data file formats encountered in database forensics cases, and continuously conducting research. In the future, we will keep expanding the product’s support to cover more types and versions.
3. Supports parsing of cloud database Parquet format backup files from disk/image-type data sources.
Value: In the previous upgrade, DBF added support for parsing cloud database Parquet format backup files. This time, we have further optimized the feature, and now it supports parsing Parquet files during the extraction and recovery process from disk/image-type data sources.
4. Optimized the hierarchical relationship analysis and filtering functionality, now supporting the filtering of nodes based on conditions such as the number of subordinate levels or the total number of subordinates.
Value: In cases such as pyramid schemes, it is often necessary to determine the number of subordinate levels and the total number of subordinates developed by a suspect in order to assess whether they meet sentencing criteria. Based on actual case requirements, we have adjusted and optimized the filtering functionality in the hierarchical relationship analysis module. Now, by inputting specific filtering conditions, it is possible to quickly identify the qualifying nodes within the entire hierarchical structure, thereby improving case handling efficiency.
5. Supports parsing of Oracle database .dmp backup files exported using the exp utility.
Value: Oracle database .dmp backup files can be exported using two methods: exp and expdp. In previous versions, we supported parsing of .dmp files exported with the expdp method. Following ongoing research, we have now fully expanded support to include parsing of .dmp backup files exported using both the exp and expdp methods.
6. Fixed known bugs to enhance product stability.
